Study Group Chair: Elizabeth Neill

The DEI Study Group learns about diversity-related issues.

On Thursday, September 28. 7 pm, the DEI and half the Sky study groups join the Back Yard Caucus, and Come Unity/Coffee Break for Social Justice for the program Difficult Conversations. The first program in this series, which brings people together by fostering thoughtful dialogue and gentle discussion about racial issues. includes a video and follow up discussion on difficult conversations. Attendees watch as African American musician Daryl Davis discusses his experience creating dialogue with the Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Davis’s experience demonstrates that dialogue about racial issues can be civil and effective. Jim Percic of the Come Unity Planning Committee leads the program and follow up discussion.

Free to attend. Preregistration is requested. Please call the Elmhurst Park District, 630-993-8193, to reserve a space in Difficult Conversations. The program takes place in the Multipurpose Room, Mary E. Kies Recreational Center, 151 E. St. Charles Road (one block east of York Road)
